the laponian owl
The laponian owl is a perfect example of nature's strangeness. Let's step out of our human conventions: the funny face this animal displays (small yellow eyes at the center of huge feather circles), is anything but funny. The two circles act as antenae able to collect sounds unhearable to us humans...the equivalent of us putting our hands behind our ears to hear better! The antenae converge not in the eyes, but exactly in the ears right behind the eyes...when a stunningly beautiful animal teaches us about efficiency...
